Thanksgiving Weekend in Chicago

Well we are back to 100% over here now but it was a very loooooooong week to say the least....lots of poop, puck, crying and just exhaustion! I think we have hit our quota of sickness for the winter, hopefully :)
I am really behind on posting but plan on updating everyone within the week. This post is on Thanksgiving which seems so long ago.
After a long week of Conner having the flu we stuck close to home so we would be healthy for Thanksgiving Weekend! The kids had a great time playing together Thursday at Uncle Kevin and Auntie Jenny's. It brings tears to my eyes watching their excitement, I'm so happy they are so close in age and will be such great friends as long as cousins. Morgan and Kasey did great also and amazingly both took naps during all the commotion. Auntie Jenn outdid herself and had lots of wonderful food to eat, we didn't even have much room for dessert.

The rest of the weekend we stayed with Uncle Jason and Auntie Kris. The girls got out to do a little shopping Friday and I got an awesome 50% off my winter coat I was eyeing. The boys rode the train that night and we headed out for dinner at Macaroni grill. The Wednesday before we left for Chicago we went to Bennigan's for dinner....this is not a normal occurrence for our family so it was nice to get out and very relaxing. We knew it was a safe (peanut oil safe) restaurant since we had eaten there many times in the past. Morgan was chowing down, Conner was enjoying the coloring pages, and Ryan a cold beer when the waitress returned to our table to tell us they just switched to peanut oil. Talk about a HUGE disappointment, everything we had ordered needed to be fried in some way and Conner really was looking forward to french fries so thankfully they hadn't put our order in so we paid for our drinks and headed home at 6pm for mac n cheese :) It just opens our eyes a little when that happens to always, always ask before ordering!!! A visit to the ER over Thanksgiving was not on our priority list!! We were hesitant to go out again while in Chicago but Macaroni grill had a peanut/nut free menu and the food was awesome.

Grandma Haartman followed us home on Saturday to spend a few days with the kids. Conner was very sad to see her go Tuesday!! Morgan got sick Sunday night so it was very nice having her around to help out with Conner. Unfortunately, she got sick with the rest of us on Wednesday :(
